Abstract The increase in telemarketing activities has been highlighted in Brazil and the world because of its rapid expansion. In Brazil, according to the Brazilian Telemarketing Association, there were about workers in this category, making it the largest employer in the service area. This study analyses the act of eating in the context of telemarketing work based on the experiences reported by the workers of a call-center in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. This is an ethnographic study, using observations of the work environment and the specific areas used for eating, and interviews.
